Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell (born in New York City) is an American television reporter, commentator and anchor of NBC News based at Washington D.C. Mitchell holds a bachelor's degree in English language from the University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell began in the field of radio and television reporter for Philadelphia, KYW Radio and TV. She became a reporter for the CBS-affiliate WDVM-TV, (then WTOP), in Washington DC. In Washington, she was appointed general reporter by NBC News two year later. The year 1981 saw her begin covering the White House and became chief congressional correspondent in 1988. Then, in 1992 she was named Chief White House Correspondent and in 1994, she was named chief foreign affairs reporter at NBC News. Mitchell has appeared on the TV news program Meet the Press as a panelist and host. Mitchell was a part of the panel during 1988 Presidential Debates between George Bush, and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married to Alan Greenspan who was former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell has been awarded numerous times in journalism, among them an award called the Goldsmith Career Award from John F. Kennedy School of Government in 2005. Mitchell was also awarded by the Leonard Zeidenberg Award presented by the Radio-Television News Directors Association in 2004. Mitchell was a reporter at for the White House first for NBC News between 1981 and 1988, during Ronald Reagan's two terms as president. Mitchell covered a wide range of notable stories, including the Iran Contra scandal, fiscal tax reforms, and arms control. Mitchell traveled with Reagan on numerous occasions to meet with Reagan many times to summits and debate matters including the Iran Contra scandal.
