Katy Perry..........................Katy Perry original name Katheryn Elizabeth Hudson, (born October 25 1984 Santa Barbara California U.S.) American pop singer who gained fame for a string of anthemic and often sexually suggestive hit songs as well as for a playfully cartoonish sense of style. Perry's first attempts at success in mainstream music failed, two record labels signing and subsequently dropping her before she had any new material released. Capitol Records released Perry's Ur So Gay EP in 2007, which received modest interest for its cheerfully flippant track. "I kissed a Girl a straightforward ode to sexual curiosity, backed by the beat of a hardedged electropop made her a larger splash just a few months after. The song caused controversy many critics claiming it of promoting the same-sex relationship and others asserting that the explicit sexual scenario depicted was designed to cater to sexual fantasies of males. But the mixture of polished and titillating melody helped I Kissed a Girl become a number one hit in multiple countries powering the sales of her album One of the Boys (2008). Hot N Cold was a success in the United States, and the second track on the album Hot N Cold with its sharp tongued bouncy beat also was a hit.
