She has covered sports in some of the most prestigious outlets around the globe. She spent almost a decade covering the sport for The Washington Post, including football, tennis, and basketball. Nichols started a nine-year time at ESPN which saw her win two Emmy Awards, and featured on many of ESPN's top shows like NFL Countdown and SportsCenter. She also worked as the correspondent of Monday Night Football on the network. After that, she joined CNN and Turner Sports. The first show she created and hosted was her own show, Unguarded with Rachel Nichols, and aired weekly on CNN and CNN International. This show attracted over one billion viewers across the entire world. Nichols worked for TNT as a journalist and reporter on NBA games including regular season, playoffs and All Star television broadcasts. Also, she reported for TBS reporting on golf and baseball broadcasts and Final Four broadcasts on CBS. This is only the second nomination for the honor for a female from the more than 200 nominees contestants.
