Kellie Pickler is one of "American Idol's" most successful graduates even though she did not win the crown. Kellie Pickler was born on June 28, 1986, in Stanly Memorial Hospital Albemarle. Her parents are Cynthia Morton and Clyde Raymond Pickler. She was born to an aged 16-year-old mother. The childhood was difficult for Pickler since her father was struggling with addiction issues for both alcohol and substances and her mother had to leave her at the age of two. Morton came back to take charge for a few years, but Pickler said that it wasn't all that great. "I was cooking with my mother, when I stated to her: 'I prefer to die rather than remain here.' She took a knife out put it on the counter, then told me, 'Here, do it after that.' I was in the fourth grade. She told me "Of course I would never ever have taken action about the incident. However, it's left me with a lot emotional marks." The court eventually handed Pickler to her parents when she was 12, and Morton did not show up to the court case. Pickler mentions her grandparents as her major influence throughout her life, was raised by the grandparents. Faye Pickler, the grandmother who raised her died of lung cancer in 2001. The grandfather continued to look after Pickler. Pickler received her high school diploma from North Stanly in New London, North Carolina.
